XLP is a leading Christian youth work charity with a 30 year history of empowering young people in London. They are committed to creating a more just and equitable city where young people can thrive.
We’re partnering with XLP to recruit a strategic and proactive Director of Fundraising to shape and lead the charity’s income generation and communications. You will bring direction, structure and momentum to a newly forming team, strengthening individual giving and philanthropy, growing corporate partnerships, and overseeing trusts, events and digital campaigns. You will work closely with the CEO and the Partnerships Lead to drive the next phase of development, improve income planning and forecasting, and embed effective use of Salesforce for reporting.
As a key member of the Executive Team, you will report to the Chief Executive Officer and collaborate with the Director of Youth Work and Director of Operations. You will also line manage the Head of Fundraising, the Partnerships Lead and the Fundraising & Reporting Officer, and oversee the Communications Manager to ensure clear, consistent and compelling external messaging that supports fundraising objectives.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Set the strategic direction for fundraising and communications, embedding strong planning, process and performance monitoring.
- Grow and diversify income across individuals, corporates, trusts and foundations, events and digital campaigns, with a focus on individual giving, major donors and philanthropy.
- Build and steward long term, high value supporter relationships, representing XLP confidently with senior stakeholders.
- Lead, develop and motivate a high performing, collaborative team and culture.
- Own income targets of £2.5m - £3m per annum, with robust pipeline management, budgeting and forecasting.
- Use data and insight to shape supporter journeys, and ensure accurate, timely reporting in Salesforce in partnership with Finance and Impact teams.
- Work cross functionally to align fundraising with programme delivery and organisational priorities, including campaigns for XLP’s 30th anniversary.

We are working in partnership with the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK), the charity supporting communities of all backgrounds to enjoy being in, on and around water safely, to secure their new Director of Income Generation and Engagement.
RLSS UK has a proud history of helping to reduce the number of lives lost to drowning through the fantastic work undertaken by their volunteers, staff, trustees, and members who advocate for and promote water safety in the communities they serve. The charity utilises their extensive, world-leading knowledge of water safety and training in developing a comprehensive range of vocational qualifications and a series of awards and education programmes, which all have the ultimate aim of preventing drowning and stopping unnecessary loss of life. Their portfolio includes the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) - the premier lifeguard training programme.
The Director of Income Generation and Engagement will be responsible for diversifying and developing RLSS UK’s income streams, predominately through fundraising. The role will also be accountable for strengthening and developing the RLSS UK brand, increasing visibility, growing engagement levels and income through enhanced presence and public awareness. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop and implement an organisation wide income generation and engagement strategy, which is aligned with organisational goals and aimed at providing long-term and sustainable income sources. Growing and fostering a high performing and motivated team, with excellent working relationships across the organisation, will be key.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in fundraising/income generation roles in a not-for-profit context.
- Track record of delivery at strategic and operational business level, and able to translate strategic vision into clear direction for the organisation.
- Experience in and/or understanding of operating in a commercially motivated environment embracing wide income generation opportunities.
- Track record of managing teams, both salaried and volunteers, to deliver income targets, and with a proven ability to recruit, train and monitor performance.
- Experience of budget creation and management.

The Director of Membership and Education will also be an empowering leader, managing a team of 13 with 4 direct reports, ensuring the effective delivery of member initiatives and lifesaving and lifeguarding training, and water safety education.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
- Track record of driving membership/audience growth, and membership engagement, with the ability to use data insight to shape strategy.
- Experience of establishing educational goals, policies, and procedures.
- Experience of working with governing bodies, and high-level stakeholders, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Experience of monitoring and evaluating the performance of educational programmes.
- Experience of budget creation and management.

We are working in partnership with Andover Mind, the charity has been working in the local area since 1984, and more recently in Romsey, Basingstoke and Aldershot, providing support, advice, and information for anyone affected by mental health distress. They also deliver training and encourage local people to talk about mental health to help break down the stigma which surrounds the subject.
A new three-year business plan was recently agreed, and its implementation is underway.
Andover Mind is now seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the senior leadership team providing leadership, developing and implementing Andover Mind’s strategic and operational plans and leading on income generation, partnership and business development and for being an effective advocate for the charity and its beneficiaries.
Key responsibilities:
- To support and advise the Chair and Board of trustees in setting the vision, strategy and business planning across mental health, health & social care policy and practice
- Create an organisation able to support its communities with easily accessible, mental health support
- To create and sustain effective multi-channel, multi-purpose income generation.
- Lead on organisational change: identifying and responding to internal and external challenges and influencing organisational culture so the organisation is supportive, inclusive and cohesive.
- Deliver an ambitious, aspirational and innovative strategy that has a clear measurable impact.
The new CEO will be responsible for the day to day running of the Charity, providing effective leadership and direction for the organisation. The successful candidate will instil the positive culture of the organisation and motivating the team to achieve fantastic results. You will be a problem solver who understands the bigger picture and will be able to demonstrate this through your experiences. You will be able to develop highly effective partnerships, be an active listener, excellent communicator and be an ambassador for the charity.

We are working in partnership with Edmund Sawyer Almshouse, a charity first established in the 17th Century for six women in need in Kettering. The building is Grade 11 star listed. It is reputed to be the oldest building in Kettering. The charity had fallen into poor condition in 2018, and the board of the Leonard Hackett Memorial Trust stepped in and took over the charity and rescued the buildings carrying out immediate refurbishment.
They are now looking to recruit Trustees to join its Board of Trustees, which sets and approves the charity’s strategy ensuring the charity's continued success and sustainability, overseeing the ongoing care of the historic buildings, and ensuring the residents feel supported, valued, and at home.
You’ll be part of a small team responsible for protecting and enhancing a vital community asset, balancing tradition with modern needs.
Edmund Sawyer is particularly keen to hear from people who can bring the following skills and experience:
- Finance with a charity background desirable not essential
- Health and welfare of elderly people
- Management of social housing/Local Authority background/Regulation of social housing
- Law/Paralegal

You will also be part of the strategy to guide the future direction of the Almshouse to meet evolving community needs.

Black Cultural Archives (BCA) is the only national heritage centre dedicated to collecting, preserving, and celebrating the histories of African and Caribbean people in the UK. Through its learning resources, collections, and research, including online and gallery exhibitions, educational programmes, public engagement events and its extensive and unique set of archives, museum objects and reference library, it inspires and give strength to individuals, communities, and society. The Board approached Charisma as a recommended specialist, to conduct an accessible, transparent, and robust search campaign with plans to secure up to 4 new Trustees. Specialist skills were sought in HR, marketing, legal and finance.

Following the appointment of an Interim Public Fundraising Manager at the end of 2021, the Chief Executive of Dogs for Good contacted Charisma to manage the search and selection of a new Director. It was an exciting opportunity for the organisation and enabled them to create a post to lead the Fundraising, Communications and Marketing function, more weighted to Income Generation that ever before, including commercial/trading opportunities. During the search process 59 candidates were engaged, via headhunting and direct applications.

This is an organisation that has supported disabled people for over 100 years and continues to make a difference in the lives of over 6,000 individuals each year.
Following an in-depth briefing from the Chair and Executive Director of Dorset Museum, Charisma was instructed to search for five new Trustees bringing specialist experience in finance, income generation, volunteering & safeguarding, and education to add value to the existing Board. It was also deemed helpful to find a Trustee who was well respected in the local community and who could engage with major donors and supporters of the work of the Museum. The excitement was rising for the new Museum to be launched in May 2021, and The Chair hoped that these new Trustees would be part of the launch to the general public.
