Macmillan Caring Locally is a small charity based in Christchurch Dorset. Their primary aim is to provide funding for the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital, which is a Hospice, a specialist palliative care ward and a centre of excellence.
The charity sought to appoint a Financial Controller responsible for the oversight of the finances of Macmillan Caring Locally, including the day-to-day accounting, investments, and preparations for the annual audit. Charisma undertook a wide and extensive resourcing exercise and identified candidates with the relevant financial qualifications.
The Charisma consultant followed-up and interviewed candidates that expressed an interest in the role. For those that met the brief and interviewed to the level required, they were added to a short list which was submitted to Macmillian Caring Locally for consideration. Three candidates were selected for interview and the successful candidate was offered the position as Financial Controller after just one interview.
