We are working in partnership with a charity who manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. They also manage other important public spaces and are the are among the most visited attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year.

They are now looking for a Business Development and Cemetery Services Manager to join the team for a maternity cover contract until August 2023. This is a rare and exciting chance for a heritage, landscape management or cemetery management professional to make a real impact on the operations of one of London’s most exceptional cemeteries.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of managing designated sites and/or assets within the historic, heritage, landscape or cemeteries sector with a demonstrable understanding of the sensitivities of managing activities and operations

  • Experience of developing and converting new business opportunities and experience of contributing towards strategic business aims

  • Understanding and experience of contract management including writing and reviewing specifications, ordering and supervision of work and handling general contract issues

  • Experience of dealing with enquiries from the public and other stakeholders, and of resolving associated issues

  • A thorough knowledge of Health and Safety principles, roles and responsibilities

  • Proven financial management and control skills with the ability to plan and deliver work and services within budget and to agreed targets

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, managing, and leading all cemetery business (i.e. concessions, events, activities) and bereavement services. You will be responsible for creating new business by discovering opportunities for growth and crafting strategies to seize these opportunities. You will be the manager on site responsible for all day-to-day operations to support, promote and improve the ongoing management and maintenance of the Grade 1 Listed Landscape. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish productive relationships with colleagues and a variety of groups, organisations and individuals at all levels both internally and externally
