We are working in partnership with a Community Interest Company that helps local people and organisations shape the way health and social care services are delivered in their communities. They provide a consultancy and stakeholder engagement service – specialising in evaluation and public engagement as well as supporting the work of independent health and social care champions.
The charity is now seeking to appoint a Carers Engagement Project Officer to help place the voice of unpaid carers at the heart of Somerset health and social care decision makers. This includes engaging with unpaid carers in creative and diverse ways, increasing awareness of the unpaid carer role, gathering views and experiences, working in partnership with statutory, community and voluntary sector partners already providing support to avoid duplication and ensuring their voices are influencing those who make decisions.
The successful individual will need to demonstrate:
Demonstrable experience of engagement with individuals and/or with communities
Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection practices including confidentiality
Knowledge of different engagement methods and techniques
Experience of working with external organisations facilitating focus/discussion groups and organising and supporting events
Experience and evidence of building effective relationships with colleagues and external partners
Understanding of the role of unpaid carers and the issues they face
The successful candidate will be a people centred person willing to listen to other’s experiences, with excellent interpersonal skills and strong communications skills both verbally and written. You will be motivated and enthusiastic individual able to work as part of team and plan workload to meet tight deadlines. The successful candidate will be confident and persuasive, with excellent relationship building skills with internal colleagues and external partners.
