We are working in partnership with Aurora Nexus, a charity based in South East London delivering services for people with learning disabilities or autism. Aurora Nexus will be formed by the merger of Lewisham Nexus Services and Aurora Options. The merger is on track to complete in October 2021. Both organisations had excellent track records of delivering truly person-centred support to both the people that use services and staff.

Aurora Nexus, as a newly formed concern, seeks an independent Chair to lead the organisation through this period of change.The successful candidate will be central in setting the future direction and strategy, using your governance skills to lay strong foundations for our future. The organisation will be looking to you to help us establish a highly effective Board that keep the organisation contemporary, relevant and known as an exemplary support provider

We are also seeking to recruit a trustee with financial knowledge and experience.The successful candidate will work closely with the Chair, Chief Executive and the Finance subcommittee to oversee the financial position, internal controls and risk management matters of the charity in line with best practice, their governing documents and legal requirements.

Potential candidates for either role will be able to demonstrate:

  • A strong and visible passion and commitment to the charity, its strategic objectives and cause

  • Strong inter-personal and relationship building abilities

  • Being able to work with tact and diplomacy, with the ability to listen and engage effectively

  • Effective networking capabilities that can be utilised for the benefit of the charity

  • Ability to foster and promote a collaborative team environment

  • Ability to commit time to conduct the role well, including travel and attending events out of office hours

Trustees are encouraged to play a full part in the vibrant life of the organisation, those already in this role find it extremely fulfilling and are a vital part of the team structure.The board currently meets 8 times per year of an evening, plus subcommittees.
