We are working in partnership with the Dioceses of Winchester and Portsmouth who are seeking to appoint a Finance Manager for their joint finance function. Following a recent review, the Finance Manger is a newly created role that will work closely with two Financial Controllers primarily with financial management and reporting responsibilities, and a supporting role in financial planning. The role will work alongside the Finance Officer who has oversight of the processes and systems for accurate recording of records and transactions. The post holder will line manage up to four team members who undertake financial processes and specific funding projects.

  • The successful individual will need to hold a recognised finance or accounting qualification (or be close to completion of one) and will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Successfully operated in a finance role with some experience at a managerial level.

  • Understanding of Charity finance accounting principles and requirements.

  • Experience of managing people and delivering through a team.

  • Knowledge of Xledger accounting systems would be advantageous; experience of working with Microsoft Suite applications and financial accounting systems.

  • Proven ability to communicate financial information with non-finance colleagues.

  • Experience in the preparation and presentation of financial management reports including cashflow, financial performance, balance sheet and restricted funds analysis.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to think strategically, whilst also having a strong attention to detail in a charity accounting background, with some understanding of diocesan finances desirable.You will have a proven ability to relate well with others at all levels and an excellent communicator of (sometimes complex) financial information in a form that is accessible to all.You will have a collaborative management style, acting with initiative and able to see projects and tasks through to completion within an environment that juggles multiple deadlines.
