We are working in partnership with a charity whose mission is to create and maintain a rich environment where children and young people can play, freely, with their friends, following their own interests in their own way. They aim to create a child-centred, free, adventurous play where children and young people can come and explore, create, build friendships, and generally hang out.
To be successful in the role of General Manager you will need to have first-hand experience and qualification in working with children and/or young people. You will have a proven level of literacy and numeracy to be able to deal with ease at producing good quality written material such as policies, reports, and eye-catching publicity, as well as managing a budget in a rigorous manner, and demonstrate financial probity.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Experienced with all aspects of H & S including fire prevention, water testing etc
Understanding the importance of safeguarding and all staff and volunteers have the relevant up to date training
Knowledge to lead fundraising and produce written material to apply for trust and foundation grants
With the Senior Play Worker, to maintain the data required as a condition of our funding and be prepared for unannounced audit or inspection
Experience in stakeholder management with the local authority Planning, Valuation and Licensing departments of the local Council along with financial support via local property developers.
The successful candidate will have the ability to supervise people, including the senior playworker and administrative staff, and the overall performance of all our play staff in order to recruit, supervise, enhance their talents, improve their training opportunities and above all raise the standard of provision we offer to children aged 6 to 16 years and their families.
An up-to-date DBS and excellent references are essential as is the importance of a real understanding of safeguarding in all its aspects. An above average understanding and knowledge of child development, and the ability to champion free play in this regard. You will have excellent communication skills and an optimistic can-do attitude.
