Head of Estates and Facilities - Claire House Children’s Hospice

We are working in partnership with Claire House Children’s Hospice, who’s aim is to provide an excellent service for the children, young people and families whom the charity supports. Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life. We help families smile again when life couldn’t get any tougher.

They are seeking a new Head of Estate and Facilities who will be responsible for the day-to-day processes, procedures and teams that create and maintain this environment; developing and managing significant building projects; and plays a lead role in the long-term development of our Estates and Facilities.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • Considerable demonstrable experience in estates and/or facilities function across a multi-faceted organisation

  • Strong project management experience across multiple sites

  • Excellent interpersonal skills – particularly communication at all levels and to all stakeholders

  • Demonstrable leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team

  • Experience of implementation and development of Health and Safety management, policies, training

  • Confident in managing a budget and be financially astute

The successful candidate will be an inspirational people manager who will lead the Estates and Hotel Services teams, including volunteers, through a culture of empowerment and trust.

This role is responsible for the delivery of excellent Estates and Hotel Services at Claire House and for ensuring a high-quality environment for children, young people, staff, volunteers, and visitors to Claire House across two sites, on the Wirral and in Liverpool. You will play a lead role in the long-term development of our sites and facilities, especially ‘Claire House Liverpool’ which we’ll be developing plans for during 2023. Project management, procurement and developing strategy in line with the charity’s strategic plan are key elements of the role; and the post holder will play an active role in the Claire House Leadership Team. The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of relevant policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental health, CQC and other relevant legislative requirements.

The position requires someone who is highly organised with excellent communication skills and able to work collaboratively across the organisation.
