We are working in partnership with the Mary Rose Trust, the charity responsible for King Henry VIII’s favourite warship, the Mary Rose, and her unique collection of artefacts. The Trust is also responsible for developing the museum as a world-class visitor experience, and as a scientific and educational resource.

They are seeking a Head of Marketing, who will be responsible for consumer marketing, leading on campaigns, the website, promotions, marketing initiatives and programming. Working alongside colleagues in the National Museum of the Royal Navy, the postholder will also be responsible for the destination marketing of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and be an integral part of the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard’s wider Marketing Team. Acting as brand guardian, identifying opportunities to drive income and innovation, and harnessing ideas from the team, audience insight and visitor feedback, will be essential.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven track record in a variety of marketing roles, with experience in consumer and digital marketing, at a senior level

  • Experience managing and directing promotional partnerships within the visitor attraction/heritage industry

  • Good financial acumen to maximise best use of budgets and resources

  • Experience of working with external marketing agencies and contractors

  • Ability to analyse business data and draw evidenced conclusions for implementation

We are seeking a strategic, innovative, strong communicator, with excellent people management and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence, secure and maintain good partnership relationships and lead a team in a matrix organisation. The ability to juggle multiple priorities and get involved with whatever needs doing, calmly and effectively, with a strong understanding of what makes a world class visitor experience and the importance of brand, being essential.
