Job Title:  Direct Marketing Officer
Hours:  Full time/ permanent (37.5 hours per week)
Salary:  Circa £25K
Location:  Southampton

We are working in partnership with Sailors’ Society, a Christian maritime welfare charity that meets the practical, emotional and spiritual needs of seafarers and their families, irrespective of religion or ethnicity.  The charity is seeking to appoint a Direct Marketing Officer who will recruit individual supporters to the organisation across a variety of different channels and propositions.  You will develop a new supporter welcome strategy to aid the retention of new donors and assist in the development of an ongoing supporter retention strategy. It is a really exciting time to join and help to build the individual giving supporter base, working within a supportive and experienced fundraising team.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of working within a fundraising or marketing department
    Experience of acquisition and retention within a direct marketing programme
    A track record of work across a variety of channels, both traditional  and digital to recruit one off and regular givers
    Experienced in building relationships, both internally and with external suppliers
    Experience of briefing both creative and data for marketing appeals
    Excellent IT skills including working knowledge of Word and Excel

We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaging individual with a high level of attention to detail and excellent planning and time management skills.  You will be able to work on your own initiative and have strong numerical skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
