Eighteen schools. Nearly 9,500 children. A Trust that's grown from eight schools to eighteen in just over five years, now needs to add to its Board.
STCAT was built through merger and rapid expansion, and is now shifting from fast growth to consolidation; building the structures and capacity to match its current scale, and becoming a more outward-facing voice in Catholic education, with the Diocese, the Department for Education and the wider sector. Whichever role fits you, you'll be joining at the moment that shift is happening, not after it's done.
Ask any current Director to describe the Board and the same words come up, unprompted; collegiate, professional, and, more than once, a family. People who mostly didn't know each other have built something rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, robust enough to hold the executive team to account, but without anyone bringing their ego to the table.
Chair of the Board of Directors
You'll line manage the CEO, chair a Board of this size and culture, and increasingly become the person representing STCAT externally as the Trust looks outward. You don't need an education background, the Board actively welcomes Chairs from outside it, but you'll need significant senior leadership or board-level experience, real confidence reading a budget, and genuine experience chairing meetings and managing group dynamics.
Be realistic about the time; 5 to 6 days a month, and regular travel across Luton, Buckinghamshire and Slough. The Directors are working to bring that commitment down over time as they recruit to the Board, but it's real now.
Director (Trustee)
STCAT's Board was built for nine Directors. For a stretch, while the Trust doubled its schools, it ran on seven, which is why more than one new Director is needed now. You don't need to be a specialist, STCAT has professional advisers for that, but you do need the confidence to ask the questions nobody else is asking and work with the Board to support the executive team.
Day to day, that's five Board meetings a year, a seat on a committee where your expertise counts, and becoming Link Director to a small number of schools, visiting at least one Local Academy Committee meeting a year to see what the Board's decisions mean on the ground. Roughly two days a month. We're especially keen to hear from people with real expertise in finance, HR, legal and regulatory compliance, property and estates, risk, safeguarding, mental health, technology, or marketing and communications.
Not sure which role fits? Say so. Some Directors go on to become strong Chairs once they know the Board, and the current Chair is available for a handover period. Raise it in your first conversation with Adam.
Both posts carry a genuine occupational requirement; you'll need to be a practising Catholic and genuinely committed to Catholic Social Teaching.
Both are voluntary roles, appointed by the Bishop of Northampton for a four-year term, renewable for up to two further terms.
Applications should include a comprehensive CV and a supporting statement of no more than two pages.
We welcome and encourage expressions of interest from people of all backgrounds. We do not discriminate on the basis of disability, race, colour, ethnicity, gender, religion*, sexual orientation, age, veteran status or other category protected by law.
*Due to the nature of the role, it is a genuine occupational requirement that the postholder is a committed, practising Catholic and fully supports the objectives of the Trust.
Closing date for applications: 23 November 2026
Interviews with STCAT: w/c 30 November and 7 December 2026
Join Church Urban Fund as Head of Fundraising and Communications and help churches and communities build lasting solutions to poverty.
Church Urban Fund (CUF) is a national charity working across England with local churches and faith-based partners who are committed to serving and strengthening the communities where they live, and overcoming poverty in all its forms.
Our vision is a future where every neighbourhood across England is able to flourish. We mobilise churches, faith groups and local people to overcome poverty and build stronger, more connected and resilient communities, rooted in an Asset Based Community Development framework that believes local people know their communities best.
We're looking for a Head of Fundraising and Communications to lead the team tasked with securing the funding to deliver our mission and communicating the work of CUF in new and exciting ways. Reporting to the Deputy CEO and leading a team of four direct reports, plus one indirect report, you'll shape the strategic direction of fundraising and communications.
In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Lead and inspire CUF's Fundraising and Communications team, building meaningful relationships with supporters, partners and advocates who share our vision of flourishing communities.

- Drive income growth across major donors, trusts and foundations, churches and individual supporters, unlocking the resources needed to tackle poverty and strengthen communities.
- Lead engaging, audience-focused communications that raise awareness of CUF's work, grow support and inspire action through digital channels, marketing campaigns and strategic partnerships.
- Champion and strengthen the CUF brand, acting as a trusted strategic voice to ensure our mission, values and impact are communicated with clarity, confidence and consistency.
If you're an experienced fundraising and communications leader with a talent for building relationships with major donors, trusts and foundations, and a passion for equipping others, we'd love to hear from you. Some knowledge of the different faith communities in England would be an advantage, and the ability to work well with people of different faiths and beliefs is essential.
Benefits:
- 22 days annual leave, plus 3 CUF discretionary days and Bank Holidays
- 7.5% employer pension contribution, with no minimum employee contribution required
- Flexible working arrangements considered

Finance Manager role at Keswick Ministries, combining professional finance leadership with meaningful Christian ministry.
Keswick Ministries exists to refresh the church with joy in Christ Jesus. Through the historic Keswick Convention, year-round events, training and resources, it inspires and equips Christians to hear God's Word, become more like Christ and serve God's mission in the world. Each summer, the Convention welcomes over 12,000 people to the Lake District, bringing together Christians from across denominations and generations around faithful Bible teaching and worship.
We're looking for a skilled and proactive Finance Manager to join the team in Keswick. Reporting to the Director of Finance and managing the Finance Assistant, you'll lead the day-to-day finance function, provide high-quality financial reporting and analysis, and help ensure the ministry's resources are stewarded effectively for maximum Kingdom impact. You'll also play a key role in developing financial systems and supporting the transition from Sage to Xero.
In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate records and efficient processes across the organisation.
- Produce management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial analysis that support effective decision-making by senior leaders and trustees.
- Work closely with colleagues across the ministry, providing financial guidance and helping non-finance managers understand and use financial information confidently.
- Support the ongoing development of finance systems, including the migration from Sage to Xero and the integration of financial and supporter data through Beacon CRM.
- Play an important role in stewarding the resources of a ministry that has been serving and strengthening the church for over 150 years.
This is a fantastic opportunity to combine professional finance expertise with meaningful Christian ministry. You'll join a warm, committed team based in one of the UK's most beautiful locations and contribute to an organisation that impacts thousands of Christians every year through events, teaching and resources.
Benefits:
- 8% employer pension contribution, with Salary Sacrifice option
- 21 days annual leave plus bank/public holidays, plus office closed for four days between Christmas and New Year, in recognition of the additional hours worked during Convention
- Relocation allowance offered
- Beautiful Lake District location with a supportive and collaborative team culture
For further details please see the candidate pack.
Key dates:
- Closing date: Monday 12th October
- Charisma vetting interviews will be completed on a rolling basis and must be completed by: Wednesday 14th October
- Interviews in person with Keswick Ministries: Thursday 22nd October
We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. We do not discriminate on the basis of disability, race, colour, ethnicity, gender, religion*, sexual orientation, age, veteran status or other category protected by law.
*Due to the nature of the work, there is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a practising Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, Part 1, Schedule 9. Employees are required to agree to Keswick Ministries' statement of beliefs and values.
Church Mission Society connects with people at the edges – of church, of society, and of our comfort zones – all over the world to help share God’s love in creative ways and see our world made new. None of that is possible without someone making sure the money, the infrastructure and the governance behind it are rock solid. That's this role.
As Director of Finance and Resources, you'll sit on the Senior Leadership Team with genuine breadth of responsibility; financial strategy and management, investments, treasury, risk, legal and regulatory compliance, property and facilities, IT and cyber security, and corporate governance. You'll also hold oversight of CMS's residual pension-related responsibilities following the transfer of its defined-benefit pension liabilities, one of the more technical, long-tail parts of the brief.
It's a lot under one roof, and that's the honest challenge - this isn't a role for someone who wants to specialise in just one thing. You'll move comfortably between a board paper on investment strategy and a decision about the office lease, often in the same week. In return, you get real influence; you'll be a trusted adviser to the CEO and board, four direct reports (Head of Finance, Head of ICT, Facilities Manager and Head of Legal) who need your steer, and a seat at the table where CMS's biggest decisions get made.
We're looking for a qualified accountant with senior finance leadership experience, ideally from a charity, not-for-profit or values-led organisation, who can operate credibly at executive and board level. You'll know your way around financial planning, audit, internal controls and management reporting, and you'll have led teams before.
But the technical skills are only half of it. CMS needs someone with the wisdom to balance prudent stewardship against a sensible appetite for risk, the courage to hold a firm line when it matters, and the humility to lead in a way that lets other people do their best work. Above all, you'll believe that finance exists to serve the mission, not the other way round.
This post carries an Occupational Requirement, under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010, that the postholder is a practising Christian, and all applicants must be wholeheartedly committed to the aims, ethos and values of Church Mission Society, including its Ethos Statement.
Closing date: Monday 12 October 2026
First stage interviews with CMS: Monday 2 November (online)
Second stage interviews with CMS: Monday 9 November (in person)
