As an ethical, values-focused recruiter, EDI is a crucial part of what we do. Yet here we are, with companies still putting “competitive salary” in job descriptions *sigh*.We also offer pro-bono CV and cover letter support to members of Black on Board, an initiative set up in response to De Montford University research that found less than 1% of boardrooms across the UK had any Black or Minority Ethnicity (BME) representation. As consultants, part of our role is to gently challenge clients when they (often inadvertently) create barriers to people applying. We focus on the skills and experience that are essential for the role, instead of reverting to yardsticks of privilege, like degrees.
