As an ethical, values-focused recruiter, EDI is a crucial part of what we do. Yet here we are, with companies still putting “competitive salary” in job descriptions *sigh*.We also offer pro-bono CV and cover letter support to members of Black on Board, an initiative set up in response to De Montford University research that found less than 1% of boardrooms across the UK had any Black or Minority Ethnicity (BME) representation. As consultants, part of our role is to gently challenge clients when they (often inadvertently) create barriers to people applying. We focus on the skills and experience that are essential for the role, instead of reverting to yardsticks of privilege, like degrees. Adam has over a decade of experience of working in senior leadership positions at not-for-for profit organisations. Before joining Charisma, Adam was Director of Development for Sailors’ Society, Chief Executive of The Source Young People’s Charity and Minister of Surbiton New Life Baptist Church. In these roles Adam has rapidly assessed the business needs, developed organisational strategy and introduced robust income generation streams across multiple disciplines, including traditional fundraising methods, charity retail and social enterprise models.  Alongside his role at Charisma, Adam is a trustee of Whitchurch Baptist Church and can also be found on his bike, walking the dog or on the latest caravan adventure with his young family.
