As an ethical, values-focused recruiter, EDI is a crucial part of what we do. We actively encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds and adjust our processes to accommodate everyone.It’s not just to meet a legal obligation, though obviously that’s important. Yet here we are, with companies still putting “competitive salary” in job descriptions *sigh*.We also offer pro-bono CV and cover letter support to members of Black on Board, an initiative set up in response to De Montford University research that found less than 1% of boardrooms across the UK had any Black or Minority Ethnicity (BME) representation. As consultants, part of our role is to gently challenge clients when they (often inadvertently) create barriers to people applying. We focus on the skills and experience that are essential for the role, instead of reverting to yardsticks of privilege, like degrees. ​Amy joined Charisma in 2021 and supports the Resourcing Team, identifying and shortlisting potential candidates for the recruitment process.  She spent a vast amount of her career working within the NHS before deciding on a career change and moving over to the recruitment sector and she hasn’t looked back.  In her spare time, Amy enjoys cooking, listening to music and spending time with her Husband and two young children.
