As an ethical, values-focused recruiter, EDI is a crucial part of what we do. Yet here we are, with companies still putting “competitive salary” in job descriptions *sigh*.We also offer pro-bono CV and cover letter support to members of Black on Board, an initiative set up in response to De Montford University research that found less than 1% of boardrooms across the UK had any Black or Minority Ethnicity (BME) representation. As consultants, part of our role is to gently challenge clients when they (often inadvertently) create barriers to people applying. We focus on the skills and experience that are essential for the role, instead of reverting to yardsticks of privilege, like degrees. Katherine has been working in senior positions for the past eight years, in both the not-for-profit and commercial sectors. Before joining Charisma, Katherine was the Development Manager for The Guildhall Trust, an arts charity dedicated to engaging young people in music. She was previously a Tour Manager for an international travel company specialising in heritage educational tours and is the former Area Sales Manager for the UK’s largest, independent art gallery group.  In all of these roles, people have been at the core. From clients and stakeholders to employees, Katherine has been at the heart of the organisation addressing their business needs, and introducing new strategies to diversify income streams, through fundraising, retail and event development.  In her spare time, Katherine enjoys antiquing, visiting historic houses, pretending to be a wine expert and spending time with her husband and cat.
