Our story
Back in the beginning, in 2002, the world of work was a very different place and so was charity and not-for-profit recruitment. Think dial-up internet, Times New Roman font, and cold calling. In this analogue ecosystem, we grafted hard and built up a reputation as the go-to charity recruitment consultancy.
Fast forward to today… times have changed and so have we.
Over the past two decades we've learned and refined how to seek out and secure high calibre talent for organisations that do good things. We have advanced our partnership approach, invested in our people and infrastructure, and built far reaching networks and a reputation for quality, reliability, and thought leadership.
We love working hand-in-hand with the charities and non-profits in finding the best possible match for each role through building real, lasting relationships.

About us
We are a specialist consultancy dedicated to connecting charities and not-for-profits with exceptional talent. With deep sector knowledge, and a personalised approach, we support organisations in finding mission and values aligned leaders, trustees, and skilled professionals across fundraising, marcomms, people and culture, finance, learning and education, projects and programmes, and operations and more.
We are ethical in our approach, passionate about EDI, transparent in our processes, and driven by building strong, long-term relationships with both clients and candidates.

- We're passionate about sector innovation and in 2024 launched the Charity Changemakers Podcast, which welcomes charity and not-for-profit leaders and changemakers from across the UK.
- We care about the longevity of our sector and in 2026 launched the Charity Careers Network, a free, practical, and supportive resource designed to support people at every stage of their career. That includes those exploring their first role in the sector, people navigating a move or step up, and experienced leaders thinking carefully about what's next.

“I joined Charisma in 2019, bringing a wealth of experience from senior roles in the not-for-profit sector. I bought the business in early 2022, and we've since had our best results on record. We now support more changemaking organisations than ever to employ incredible talent.
My passion is in shaping a recruitment business that puts people at its core.
